
The International Coalition of Girls’ Schools’ Global Action Research Collaborative on Girls’ Education (GARC) brings together educators from girls’ schools around the world to engage in informed, collaborative, and disciplined action research.
Through this work, participants contribute to a growing body of research grounded in classroom practice while connecting with a global network of educators committed to advancing girls’ education.
GARC is designed to be accessible to educators at all stages of their research journey. With structured learning, ongoing guidance from experienced research advisors, and collaboration across the cohort, participants are supported throughout the 18-month experience, culminating in the sharing of research at an ICGS conference
Things to Know before Applying
Participation in GARC is open to educators at ICGS member schools (view the Membership Directory here) and requires the support of your Head of School (or equivalent) as well as an in-school mentor. Signed documentation from both will be required as part of the application.
Selected participants will pay a one-time fee of $1,325 USD at the start of the experience. Participants are also expected to attend and contribute to two consecutive ICGS conferences, where learning and research sharing take place—scheduled for Brisbane in 2027 and Sydney in 2028. What This Application Entails
To be considered for GARC, applicants must complete the full application, including contact information and responses to two open-ended questions. You may wish to draft your responses in advance before submitting.
An application is considered complete once ICGS has received:
- Responses to all application questions
- A signed permission form from your Head of School (or equivalent)
- A signed mentor guidelines form from your in-school mentor
- A two-minute video introducing yourself and your interest in participating (linked within the application)
