Call for Proposals

Rethinking Girls’ Education: Learning, Wellbeing and Technology

We invite educators and school leaders to submit proposals for 45-minute breakout sessions at the Educating Girls Symposium, to be held at St Cuthbert’s College in Auckland on 25 September 2026.

This year’s programme explores the intersection of learning, wellbeing and technology in girls’ schools. We are seeking practice-based sessions that offer clear insight into how schools are responding — what’s working, what hasn’t, and what others can take away and apply.

The following three areas have been identified as priorities within the programme, and proposals aligned to these will be given preference:

  • What’s Shaping Learning in 2026: How are classrooms evolving in response to rapid change? This may include AI and digital technologies, curriculum and assessment shifts, and practical classroom strategies that are delivering impact.
  • Responding to Rising Anxiety: How are schools adapting to support increasing levels of student anxiety? We welcome approaches spanning counselling, classroom practice, staff capability and whole-school responses.
  • How We Are Using AI in Our Schools: What does effective and responsible use of AI look like in practice? This may include implementation, professional learning, privacy considerations, and managing challenges such as “shadow AI”.

We also welcome proposals that speak more broadly to learning, wellbeing and technology in girls’ schools, particularly where they offer strong, practice-based insight.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Sessions grounded in school practice
  • Clear reflections, including challenges and lessons learned
  • Practical strategies delegates can apply in their own context
  • Relevance across primary and/or secondary settings

Proposals must be submitted by 14 June 2026 for consideration. Questions may be directed to Loren Bridge, ICGS Australasian Executive Director, at lbridge@girlsschools.org.

Presenters are expected to:

  • Obtain financial support from their school/organization for registration fees, travel, and expenses to attend the professional development gathering, and register by the appropriate presenter registration deadline.
  • Participate in ICGS programs as full attendees and, as such, be present and engaged throughout the event.
  • Make their own hotel and travel arrangements, for which they are financially responsible.
  • If there are co-presenters, understand that the primary contact is responsible for corresponding with her/his co-presenter(s).
  • Give ICGS permission to edit the title and description for all accepted submissions for promotional purposes.
Speaker Guidelines:
  • The material presented should be appropriate for the audience and should not include profanity, vulgarities, or mature content.
  • The presentation must not denigrate nor insult any person or group based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or political ideology.
  • Incitement of hatred and provocation of violence are expressly prohibited.
  • Fundraising or sales pitches of any type are not permitted.
  • ICGS personnel reserve the right to interrupt the speaker and/or stop the program if any of the above criteria are violated.
Please note that, generally speaking, the conducting of workshops/sessions is pro bono work—there is no remuneration or honoraria offered to presenters. However, a special discounted presenter rate will be offered to all those whose proposals are accepted by ICGS.
